Cycling Busan is a work-in-progress field notebook. Routes, tiles, and translations will keep evolving until launch.

Gadeok-do west spine

Gadeok Sunrise Ridge

40 km out-and-back loaded with 700 m of punchy elevation, gravel shoulders, and total sunrise isolation over the new airport earthworks.

40 km 720 m 2 h 20 m Sep 3, 2025

Key moves

  • Warm-up on the Metro: Take Line 1 to Hadan with bikes allowed after 05:30. The GPX starts outside Exit 5 on a low-traffic feeder.
  • Two summits: One paved, one hardpack. You will see 12–14% ramps but each lasts <3 minutes.
  • Return transfer: Use the left-side bus lane while descending; traffic is light pre-8 am but the concrete ruts will grab skinny tires.

Safety checklist

  • 32c or wider tires survive the concrete seams.
  • Bring an orange rear light—fog hides tail lights faster than you expect.
  • Download KakaoMap offline; LTE coverage flickers once you crest the ridge.

Camp coffee option

There is enough flat real estate near the vista point to set up a tiny stove. Please pack out gas canisters—Gadeok has zero pickup services and we want to keep this sunrise session discreet.
